David Rane
Producer & Director
David is a BAFTA-winning film producer with over 23 years of experience producing award-winning documentaries, animated films, and short fiction. His company, Soilsiú Films, has had films screened globally, including in France, Germany, the USA, and Australia.
In Loco Parentis (School Life) premiered at IDFA and Sundance, was theatrically released in the USA by Magnolia Pictures, and received critical acclaim (93% on Rotten Tomatoes). Young Plato was nominated for IDA and BIFA awards, screened at over 65 festivals, won 15 awards, and had theatrical releases in Japan in 80 cinemas.
In 2022, David produced Much Ado About Dying, directed by Simon Chambers, which won Best Directing at IDFA, and Girl Taken, directed by Francois Verster and Simon Wood, a thriller launched on Paramount Plus UK. His recent projects include The Alexander Complex, directed by Neasa Ní Chianáin, and My Sweet Land, directed by Sareen Hairabedian, nominated for three IDA awards in 2024.
David is currently developing new documentary and fiction projects supported by Screen Ireland and Creative Europe slate funding. David was the founder and festival director of the Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival (2006–2020) and is regularly invited to be a panelist and guest speaker at film festival and film industry conferences. He is a member of the pre-selection jury for the Producers' Guild of America Documentary awards, and an expert assessor for Eurimages.
David was a graduate of the M.A Film and Televsion course at the University of London (Goldsmiths College) in 1993. He was on the Executive Committee of Screen Producers Ireland for four years, and has taught film making at both the University of London and the Dublin Institute of Technology.

Neasa Ní Chianáin
Director & Writer
Neasa Ní Chianáin is a documentary film director and writer. Her films have been screened on television channels all over the world, and have won awards at many international film festivals.
She also co-founded the Guth Gafa International Documentary Film Festival in 2006 and co-directed it with David Rane from 2008.
Originally trained in art direction, Neasa worked on Irish feature film and television projects like Angela’s Ashes, All Soul’s Day, A Love Divided and BBC series Rebel Heart before transitioning to documentaries in 2001. Her early work includes No Man’s Land (RTÉ) and Frank Ned & Busy Lizzie, which won Best Feature Documentary at the Celtic Film Festival and was sold to broadcasters, including ZDF (Germany), ARTE (France) and YLE (Finland).
Her film Fairytale of Kathmandu premiered at IDFA 2007 and screened at over 30 festivals. Fairytale won 3 Best Documentary/Director awards and screened on RTÉ, YLE(Finland), Canvas (Belgium). The Stranger premiered at Galway Film Fleadh and Locarno in 2014. The film was screened as a 52 minute version on RTÉ later in 2014. In Loco Parentis (School Life) premiered at IDFA and Sundance, was theatrically released in 32 U.S. states, and Neasa was selected as one of the 'Top 10 outstanding European Women Filmmakers' at the Sydney Film Festival.
Her latest works include Young Plato, which won 14 Irish and International awards, has sold to more than 20 broadcast channels around the world, been screened at over 65 film festivals, and qualified for the Oscars and BAFTAs.
Neasa has just completed a new documentary, 'The Alexander Complex', which world premiered at Docs Thessaloniki, and is writing her first Irish language feature film, Huaidí Dan agus Maisie.
Neasa has regularly guest lectured at Coleraine University, Maynooth University and DKIT. She has also been a Juror at IFTA, Cork Film Festival and Docville.

Reto Stamm
Production Sound Mixer & Editor
Reto Stamm is a Zurich-based editor, sound designer, and postproduction specialist with over 20 years of experience in television and film. He began his career in the electronics industry before studying history and film at Zurich University. To further hone his craft, he attended prestigious training programs, including the DokWerkstatt Bern (2001), the Filmwerkstatt Münster documentary master school (2004), and the Binger Documentary Directors’ Coaching Programme (2005).
A longtime collaborator with Soilsiú Films, Reto has been a key crew member on many of their projects, including School Life (2016), Young Plato (2021), and The Alexander Complex (2024). His work as a sound recordist has taken him across five continents, working in both documentary and fiction genres. He has recorded sound on set and location for directors such as Neasa Ní Chianáin (Fairytale of Kathmandu, 2007), Sabine Gisiger (Yalom’s Cure, 2014), Anka Schmid (Wild Women – Gentle Beasts, 2015), Arami Ullón (Nothing but the Sun, 2020), Marcel Gisler (Electroboy, 2014), Greg Zglinski (Tiere, 2017), Peter Greenaway (Eisenstein in Guanajuato, 2015), Daniel Howald (Who’s Afraid of Alice Miller?, 2021), Miriam Pucitta (Mutterland, 2023), and Martin Witz (Im Schatten der Träume, 2024).
Beyond production, Reto regularly teaches sound for film at art schools and masterclasses in Switzerland and Germany. He is also a member of both the European and Swiss Film Academies.
